I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says; "There, she is gone!"
"Gone where?" Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There, she is gone!" There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout;"Here she comes!" And that is dying.

I have felt a twinge of saddness everytime I have something I need to email as i scroll through my email contacts as I see Craigs name listed and know that I cant send it to him or he wont get it. Also, I was helping my mom with her cell phone last night and saw his name in her phonebook and called the number hoping to hear his voice on his voice mail, but it "hasn't been set up." I was really disappointed. I also have found it hard to communicate with others about how sad this is for our family, as to some people an "Uncle" is someone that you see 1x per year and that just isnt a big part of your world. But our family is different that way- i have always explained that I am closer to my cousins than a lot of people in this world are to their siblings, but like I said others just dont get it. So because others dont get it I find myself not wanting to talk about it to anyone who doesnt know our family or isnt family. That is an isolating, lonely feeling to me and I hope that us talking about it more will help me with my feelings and maybe help you guys too...?? Love you all so much! Dana 11-12-07
